Freckles' Friends was organized in May of 2006. We received our
501c3 non-profit status shortly thereafter. Current board members
are: Durward Brantley, Kim Brantley, Dr. Mark Burke, DVM, Sommer
Deebanks, Lisa Lewis, PhD, and Patricia McCracken. Our hope is to
one day provide a quality, no-kill pet adoption center where homeless
adoptable pets could be cared for in a safe and nurturing
environment. Our dream is to build a shelter that can be used as an
educational facility for classes in pet care and dog-training, cat play
areas with plenty of toys, windows with bird and/or squirrel feeders
outside, separate quarantine areas for new admissions or any who may
be ill, sterilization systems and extra ventilation to prevent the spread
of disease. There would also be a clinic room for veterinary visits and
spay/neuter surgeries. It will be a pleasant environment for pets and
humans. A separate boarding facility and thrift shop would help to
raise funds for operating the facility. All this sounds great but takes a
lot of money. Due to the current economic conditions, our capital
campaign has been put on hold indefinitely.
population by providing financial assistance to anyone who cannot
afford the surgery, educating the public about the benefits of
spay/neuter and the problems caused by pet over-population. For

|Freckles' Friends does not have an adoption program. We do offer free courtesy listings to
area residents looking for homes for pets. These pets are not in the care of Freckles'
Friends and we cannot vouch for their health or behavior. If you give one of these pets a
home, and we hope that you will, please take them to a vet as soon as possible for a full
checkup and neutering to prevent unwanted litters.
