Spay/Neuter Programs

    Freckles’ Friends has received a $2,000 grant from the Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs
    Foundation!  These funds will be used to provide spay/neuter financial assistance for low-
    income pet owners through Freckles’ Friends Low-Income Spay/Neuter Voucher Program.  To
    qualify for assistance through this program, pet owners must provide proof of low income
    status through participation in a government program such as Disability, Unemployment, Public
    Housing, Supplemental Security Income, etc.   We want to thank Build-A-Bear Workshops for
    their support and generous grant.
    The Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation is committed to making life more bearable
    for children, families and pets, in need of a helping paw.   With the sale of each full-sized
    Beremy’s Kennel Pals® friend – a collection of Build-A-Bear Workshop® plush dogs – one
    dollar is donated to domestic pet organizations and pet education programs around the
    country.  These funds are available to qualified non-profit organizations in the United States

    Freckles' Friends Low-Income Spay/Neuter Voucher Program is for pet owners in the
    DeKalb County area who qualify because they are on a government program such as
    Unemployment, SS Disability, Food Stamps, Public Housing, SSI, Medicaid, etc.  Vouchers are
    accepted at both Paul's Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic and Fix for Life Low-Cost Spay/Neuter
    Clinic (see below for more information).  Vouchers are currently issued in the following
    amounts (subject to change):  $65/female dog, $45/male dogs, $45/female cat and
    $30/male cat.  Call 615-464-6104 and leave a message or email freckles.friends@yahoo.com
    to get your voucher number which can be used with either Dr. Burke (615-597-1726),  Dr.
    Little (615-597-1950) or Dr. Wheeler (615-597-3770) in Smithville, TN.  Our vouchers are
    now accepted at the following low-cost spay/neuter clinics:  Fix for Life and Paul's Clinic.  See
    their contact information below.  Funding for this program is provided through grant funding
    from the Patricia & Edward J. McGavock Fund of the Community Foundation of Middle
    Tennessee and the Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation as well as private donations
    and volunteer fundraising efforts.

    Freckles’ Friends Standard Spay/Neuter Voucher Program is available for any pet owner
    or rescuer in the DeKalb County area who states financial need, regardless of income. The
    voucher is used as a coupon for $50/female dog, $40/male dog or $35/female cat,
    $25/male cat towards spay/neuter surgery.  Call 615-464-6104 and leave a message or email

    Fix for Life Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic in Lebanon, TN. Clinic prices are: Female Dog -
    $50 - $65, Male Dog - $40 - $50, Female Cat - $40, Male Cat - $30.  For more information

    Paul's Clinic in McMinnville, TN.  Clinic prices are:  Female Dog - $60, Male Dog - $50, Female
    Cat - $50, Male Cat - $40.  For more information and to make an appointment call (931) 688-

    A Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic has been established by the Humane Society of Putnam
    County, Inc. to serve the 14 Upper Cumberland counties in Middle TN. It is located in
    Cookeville, TN. To make an appointment, call 931-372-2728. Their clinic prices are: Female
    Dog - $65, Male Dog - $55, Female Cat - $55, Male Cat - $40, Umbilical Hernia Repair - $10.
    There is no extra charge if an animal is pregnant or in heat!  Go to www.
